I used to have a "rehearsal band" (we got together to jam and smoke pot) with the old Doors drummer, John Densmore -- along with Derf Scratch, the bass-player from Fear -- back around 1983. It was just for fun and we never did a gig. We jammed in Densmore's garage in Brentwood (CA) and drank as much of his expensive wine collection as we could.

When I was in high school, The Doors were THE L.A. band.

I got tickets for David Byrne and Ani DiFranco for 2 June for my wife's birthday. I've seen Byrne twice, once with Talking Heads and once solo. She likes Ani.
Drink your fucking drink, how about that? Stop the fuckin' presses, isn't it genius??

I saw David Byrne once. Even got hooked up with backstage passes. I don't know what I expected, but it was no big deal. Some coolers of beer, some mellow conversation. It was cool though.

Guess it would be different for Motley Crue

can't believe my good fortune, but DKM's are rolling through yet again with the Offspring. Summertime gig, outdoor venue. this'll make 3 times we've seen them in 9 months. anyone within driving range that's interested, pm me and we'll make a go of it.
why is my moral compass always pointed east? that's the direction of the nearest liquor store.

I saw John Fogerty live this weekend at the Blues Festival in Peer (Belgium). Goddamnit on of the sweetest concert I've been to this year.
Only got Street Dogs and some Dutch festival stuff left...

My buddy Sean left a two minute semi-coherent foaming ranting voicemail on my phone today about how GWAR was in town last night, and he missed it.

Alas, I missed it, too. Neither one of us is covered in blood. It's very sad.
Oh, that? Yeah, I did that, it's my fault. I'm sorry.

Oh shit I said March 28th, I meant October 28th which is the day after tomorrow. Eagles of Death Metal is the shit too! I just saw Pixies last week and bought some tickets for Reel Big Fish in February next year.

Now I only got to see The Pogues, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse and The Real mcKenzies live and I can die as a happy man.

Fuck yeah, going to see Huun-Huur-Tu tonight, tuvan throat singing and folk music. Seems swine flu has hit down with devastating force(read: media hysteria) so I'll probably have some strong spirits to help me keep those nasty germs away from my clean sterile mouth.

i bet those guys know how to party.

okay, so The Redhead and i are going to make it official; ceremony, officiant, party, the works. so i figured i get a bachelor party. turns out my favorite local band is playing this dive on river street the night of my party. loud, whiskey-drinkin' fellas known as the "train wrecks." the owner of the place is a real penis. i see getting hauled out by my boys after maybe 20 minutes, but that would save my hearing, so i'm not going to fight it.
