heres the thing im confused about. crystal is nursing, and i know you can't drink. but we got her some pumps too, and the baby is WAY better at the bottle anyways. so, she can put it in the bottles occasionally, and drink when she needs to, right?

im not talkin everyday, but when she would like to drink.

you are probably okay with the milk after 24 hours! isn't that how long it takes for the good stuff to get out of your system? i dunno savage would be way better with this stuff than i am.

supposedly, refrigerated, it lasts like 7 days. according to this book thats been staring me down off to my right.

Crystal's milk should be coming in in the next day or so and when I'm telling you her milk will come in, I mean her breasts are going to COMPLETELY, PAINFULLY full of milk. This is her body's way of figuring out how much baby actually needs. If she's going to pump this is when she should start to make it easier on herself. Her body will quickly figure out how much little Mike needs and if she's already pumping between feedings she won't have to worry about not having enough for baby...her body will be making that extra for her from the get-go.

The bottle thing...if she is nursing it's going to take a good 3 or 4 weeks for her and baby to really figure it out. Not advisable to frequently (once every 2 days or more) introduce a bottle before that happens because it can confuse the baby and mess with the baby's latch, which will make the breastfeeding learning curve steeper for Crystal, which will frustrate Crystal and make her feel like a failure because she hasn't figured it out yet, which will frustrate the baby and make it harder for him to learn. Frustration like that over a period of days or a week will end up in a strictly bottle fed baby. And if Crystal had a desire to breastfeed long term (I don't know if she really had her heart set on nursing or not) and it doesn't pan out you'll have a crying wife who feels like a terrible mom. That's never fun.

When I was breastfeeding this one I would have a beer or glass of wine with dinner twice a week and not worry about it. Alcohol is at it's most potent in the breastmilk about an hour after you drink it, they say. If she's super paranoid like a lot of first time moms she can have one right after baby eats and 2 hours later when he's ready to eat again she'll have no worries.

Having a stronger drink, well that takes a bit more planning.

i love this stuff. the new one is hale and well and all that good stuff. mom's healthy, all the planets are aligned and ruiner's getting breast feeding advice. the intel is good and i'm not knocking it but all the brother wants to know is when he can get his old lady liquored up like the good old days. asap you two go and get your juice on. i'm pretty sure you've reliable child care at home. go kick it old school you crazy kids.

And, quite frankly, let's pretend for a minute that Crystal has two beers and nurses exactly one hour later. Her milk would have the same alcohol concentration as her blood. At 0.05 BAC, it's roughly the same amount of alcohol as O'Douls or orange juice. If she got absolutely ripped, and was blowing a 0.2 BAC, that's the alcohol equivalent of putting one shot of 80 proof liquor in 199 ounces of water. (1.5546875 gallons).

You don't take risks like that, 'cause it's a baby, but even the worst bartenders I've ever met don't pour that weak.
