Drunken haiku, anyone?

Postby cornbread714 » Wed Jun 25, 2008 11:34 pm

I don't know if this forum is only for serious MD submissions, but mightn't it be fun to do some hammered haiku? Even if it's bad, like this one that just spewed out:

last drink of the day
cheap beer, but that is ok
i now have to sleep
Live like a pig, die like a dog

Bottle of bourbon
How bright the light shines this morn
Forget going to work

Three sheets, and I sail
Well traveled currents of booze
Deeper into night

Nothing left to drink
Vermouth, warm sake, and Tang
Down the hatch it goes!

I am four-square behind this idea. But I'm just not feeling the creativity at the moment.

whiskey drunk
not quite there yet though
the doors lays the way

flask empty again
her smile promises much
beautiful hope

the wine gone
shots of vodka drank next
little memory

a dive and a girl
fucked up, what happened
will never know
The last thing that anyone should ever do is feel ashamed of blacking out. You were trying to get drunk last night and, goddamnit, mission accomplished.

This is all bullshit.

OK so I'm drunk
there's been worse that has happened
so what? It's all good.
Getting drunk was good. I decided that I would always like getting drunk. It took away the obvious and maybe if you could get away from the obvious often enough, you wouldn't become obvious yourself - Bukowski

Gin, dear friend tonight
What trouble shall we find now?
Cat shaving it is!

Can a man find rest?
"No", say the philosophers,
"Beer fills that role now"

Head pounds from the pain
Last night is a highlight reel
The low-lights less clear

Rotgut vodka soothes
Communists aren't bad guys really
Just numb to their lives

Another bottle
"This is the last one" he says
As he pours a drink

Sweet Christmas, I swear I don't mean for these to be so damn "sad-bastard" but it's like Haiku is predisposed to melancholy.
