It's a silly list. It's like "Oh I vow to you that from now on I shall never drink!" that's such bullshit. It doesn't work that way. I mean, Tom Waits is on the list, along with John freakin' Coltrane!! This is why I will never quit. I don't want to be on the same list as Adolf Hitler all of a sudden.
And do people actually believe Tom Waits doesn't enjoy a cold beer on the weekend? I mean I know he SAID he quit drinking, but bullshit... I don't believe it.

Nah, he had an intervention when he was like, 30 I think. Never touched a drop since. Says his writing benefitted from it. Fair play to the guy. He's makin' mad dolla!

I've known Tom, on a casual basis, for 30+ years. I haven't seen him in @9yrs, but he told me then that he'd been completely s*ober for quite awhile. Unfortunately, Tom's a "one's too many and a hundred ain't enough" type of drinker.
