Irish drunkards, beware. One obnoxious American boozer is gonna be landing in Dublin Tuesday morning. My only vacation in the foreseeable future, and I'm leaving the continent for the first time.
Guinness tour is planned, and Jameson tour is pending finding a way to get to Cork.

On my last trip to Dublin, I managed to get so drunk on (or around) O'Connell Street that I got the wrong bus to the brewery and wound up (uncuccessfully) chatting up some Eastern European bird who was tending bar on the outskirts. It was fun, though.

Don't spend too long in Dublin. The countryside is what puts the eire in Ireland.

I agree one hundred percent: unless you're there for a stag party, Dublin hasn't got much to offer. Now, the west coast and Connemara... hou là là, serious drinking to be made in genuine pubs heated by the peat stoves. Wonderful places.

Sorry we never left Dublin, but waking up after the last bus leaves tends to put a damper on that.... and we're also kinda poor. Did the touristy Guinness schlock, got perfect pint pourer certified, drank in pubs, watched rugby (GO SUCK A DICK ULSTER) over several pints of Guinness, heard some bad-ass music, saw the sights when I (gasp) wasn't drinking. I'm now saving up my money for another trip, but this time, with added countryside.

And be sure to catch the 10:00 pm - ish while you'll be there sunset in Galway - ideally viewed from the golf course at the Galway Golf & Country Club (forgives if I've got the name wrong - it's been 12 years) whilst golf staff chases you off the greens. I'm sure there'll be plenty more suggestions for this - this is where I happened to be when I had the opportunity to witness it.
Oh - and lay down on the cliffs opposite the Cliffs Of Mohar. Yes you can do it. Pay no mind to the signs.
That fella at Blarney Castle is small but made of iron - don't worry - he'll hold ya while ya kiss the stone - no matter how hungover ya are. Oh, and don't kiss the stone - the locals pee on it - or so I was told by a buncha locals.
The whole blessed country is wonderful. I can't wait to go back. But not 'til I nose around the Highlands of Scotland to hob knob with the other side. They make my Irish side look tame.
