I think that with TIto's, when they started with their business plan was to produce a quality vodka in Texas with none of the frills or mass marketing and all that crap to drive up the price.
I enjoy it.

There's nothing wrong with American vodka. Most of your so-called "Russkie" vodkas - like Smirnoff, Popov, Skyy, Absolut - are all brewed & bottled right here in the USA. They carry the moniker of Imported Vodka because we Americans still cling to the idea of regional spirits being the best and don't mind shilling out an extra sawbuck for it because we think it impresses the girl we're with in the liquor store.
Here's a tip: a land as diverse and bountiful as the good ol' USA can produce any alcohol as good, if not better, as any other country, palate be damned.

Ah yes, but sometime you have to have the real deal. There's some Polish Vodka made with some sort of grass.
Or, true Amsterdam Gin.
and shit like that.

Amsterdam gin is indeed awful. Way too thin and watery.

I've never had Tito's, but I know some people swear by it. I think I read it's actually rated higher than Belvedere and a lot of the other high-end stuff.

If you want a cheap, decent gin, I go with Gordon's.

Damn, I was at the state store today and totally blanked on investigating the price of this... It was on sale a few weeks ago, probably went back up since then, but Kraken seems to be on discount every two weeks, so it was worth a shot.

When I lived in Austin TX (1993-2007), Tito's was usually my house vodka.

I don't know man, Scotch? ehhh, I don't think we'll ever see a Kentucky Straight Islay Whisky. We have it good on a lot of fronts, but there are others which will always escape us.

I've thought about this a few times, how close to the taste could you get if you used the same methods to produce the whisky. I reckon you could get pretty damn close, the trouble is, good scotch needs at least 5 years of aging, and at the end of it, if it's not from scotland you couldn't call it scotch, so it would be a difficult sell and I reckon nobody would want to take the risk
