Wow. I knew canada(or certain provinces) heavily taxed/controlled liquor, but that's too much.

A simple solution. Move to the states. I will welcome and help you(all you have to give up is national health care).

Love the states but I grew too attached to Canadians, can't leave now. Will have to suffer this curse. Actually, maybe I'll start making my own booze! I wasn't exaggerating about the prices though, it's unreal.

As I said on this board many times, and Peetie is knowledgeable about this: Come to Belgium, we'll grant you drunkard's asylumn. Booze is cheap, good, and plenty.

Totally starting to consider this. If only I didn't have 2 more years of university. Ugh...

You can't get those mega-deals on whiskey over here, but if you shop around, beer, wine and vodka -- plus Belgian spirits like Jenever (that's where Jager is derived from) -- are cheap and plentiful.

But nothing happens in Belgium, nothing actually ever happens in Belgium. Belgians wake up, talk with other Belgians a bit, then go to bed. There is no point in Belgium. (except Peetie's gigs that is).

Even my gigs are pointless...however, the Westvleteren 12 soon soothes such minor wounds.

You're absolutely right. We wake up in the morning, start drinking and whine about how nothing ever happens in Belgium. Then we go to an uneventful lunch, where nothing happens except eating and boozing a lot, and we complain about still not having a government, because nothing is ever decided in this country, and then we have a cognac or two, which was made in a country where things happen. After a walk through empty streets (people are inside their houses basically doing nothing but drinking) we settle down on a terrace, where we have a few Belgian beers (did I mention that, to create the illusion of outdoor activity, it is allowed in Belgium to drink in public?). At night, we might catch a game of soccer, which ends at 0-0 because nothing happened on the field. Then a few glasses of wine to end another boring day...

I must move to Belgium.

I've never thought of it, but you're right. When has Belgium ever been in the news? When do you see a headline with "Belgium" in it?

The only thing I think of when it comes to Belgium is King Leopold II massacring the Congolese.

Get back on-topic...the bier in Belgium kicks serious ass.

Bin Laden couldn't have handled even one night in a Bocholt cafe, drinking Duvel, with 70+yr-old Belgians.

Indeed. So, back on topic: we will grant everyone drunkard's asylumn, and for 20 bucks you will be totally wasted.
