Wow, cool story. I wonder if it really was a sasquatch. I believe that anything is possible, and who the hell knows what is really out there? There are things that are beyond science, in my opinion. Or maybe there are things that science can't explain yet, so they appear outlandish to us.

Regardless, that's a very well written and highly enjoyable story. I got to read your other posts but they are a bit intimidating lengthwise although I started the oak-story yesterday and didn't find it as gripping as this piece of read.
You sure do have some fine story telling skills there, it's a nice thing to be able to depict something that in parts was nothing particular in such an interesting way.
Whatever it was and for whatever reason you experienced this it no doubt must have enriched your lives.

Still working on getting through Crooked Cult Campers, am about 1/2 and the story got much more interesting after getting past the part about the oak which seem rather unrelated with the rest of the story so far.

In those days of mixing booze and other substances one minute could very well be unrelated to the next.

True that. Did you write these stores at the time of them occuring or is this something you've sat down writing in the later years recreating from distant memories?

The recollection of the oak tree does really help later in the story. It shows how important that pipe was to you. Again, Jim, you are a good writer, man.
