Religious Fanatics

Postby Willy » Sat May 22, 2010 4:17 pm

You know, the "End of the World is Coming" fanatics like those you'd find at Jehova's Witness.

Give me a fucking break ok? I had a Buddy of mine chide me for living in the City in marginal Neighborhood (His words, not mine.). I said WTF do you mean "marginal'??? Yeah, it's integrated. Yeah, shit happens in the hood sometimes. Show me a City Neighborhood that doesn't exist.

He said, "Yeah. That's what I mean man! The final chapter is coming and the first to get it are Cities. Hey man, you know the local grocery stores only have 3 days of food on hand on any given day? IF Armaggedon happens, they'll be the first to get incinerated!".

Yeah I told him. That true but you think you're safe in the Burbs? The shit rolls downhill Dude! He says he doesn't care cuz he's right with God, etc.

Ok, but I'll live where I want to and where is cheap and I can go all over the City just by calling a cab if I'm drunk ect.

You can have your bunker in the ground fear in your boring fucking town in your phony ass Middleclass Suburn Neighborhood because I own my house outright and you don't, so I don't fear Wall St. or fucking banks crashing and I'm sure as hell not afraid of confrontation cuz I know how to defend myself!

Man, you should seen have the look on my Buddy's face!

end of the world types are everywhere. It's never a bad thing to be prepared, but as far as spouting off your beliefs to people who don't want to hear it, that's a no-no in my book. I live out in the boonies now ( on a dirt road no less ), but I'm sure as shit glad I grew up in the city.

The wackoo's live in the Country too Big C. I've lived in the Country. I was born there, so I know.

The scene is different but the undercurrent isn't.

Now if I was a black man, which I am not, I would fear the Country. There are KKK types out there. I've run into them.

Here in the City, if you act cool, you are cool. No race issues involved. I like it that way. I'll live next to anybody as long as they're cool.

There was this black guy, friend of a friend, who was from the city and came out to drink with us good ole boys one night. Great guy, about the best blues guitarist i've ever had the chance to see live. Anyway, he starts freaking about kkk types and stuff once the sun went down. Just had to reassure him that the most dangerous thing out here in this neck of the woods is a bunch of heavily armed rednecks and if anyone wants a piece of him, they gotta go through us. didn't do much to calm him at first, until the shotguns and my AK came out, then he realized, the ATF would have a tough time taking him away, to say nothing of some dumb ass klansmen.

But that's what I am saying here Spook. I like the "hood". I even have a dive bar a block from me. I don't fear racial integration. Too many white people and, as a result, too many minorities do too.

I inherited the house I live in. It's old but I keep it up, even though there is a boarded up house across the street. Yeah, I've had to scare off some fools but I have the legal right to carry and I do. No AK, although I do have a tricked out SKS, but I don't fuck around.

It may not be large but this is my piece of earth and I'll defend it to the death. Folks in my hood know that and respect me for it. That's because I knew what I was moving into and accepted it for what it was without fear. My Neighbors appreciate that.

They watch my back and I watch theirs. Only then can we take it back!

watching each others back is what neighbors should do. if more did it, there wouldn't be near as many run down neighborhoods. Glad to hear it, i don't buy that racial bullshit. people are people first and foremost.

I got stuck on a plane early this month between phoenix to Austin next to a preacher. He was carrying one of those small phone book size bibles. He introduced himself once seated so we then had a bond on his playing field I guess. After a few pleasantries, the ` Have you accepted the Lord Jesus as your savior' line comes out and I said yes out of weird reflex and he says if you havent been judged now, you WILL be judged later crap. I opened my book and that shut him up. When we were taxiing to the gate in Austin I made a comment about the shitty seat comfort and that opened the flood gates for my simple life expectations that arent the most important things in life. I gave him my standard line that faith, religion and respect are a practice done 7 days a week and not only on Sunday but he brushed that off with some scripture I have ignored since my first communion. I trust anyone on this board more than a religious pundit like that who treats you like a teddy bear won at the fair's shooting range.

This is why I live out in the sticks (OK, not the number one reason, but it's somewhere on the list).
The zombies come, and my fam and I high tail it out to our property deep in the woods (even farther out in the sticks), blow up the one bridge on the 2 track that leads out there, and live off our considerable hunting, fishing and survival skills. Actually sounds quite nice...
The cabin sits shut-down, cold-frozen and empty, dead mice in the traps, waiting for me to drink alone there in the dark.

Heh, I have access to a Cabin that is off the beaten track. No electricity, no running water, although there are streams and Lakes nearby, as well a public Well that anybody can fill up water jugs from for free. It does have a wood stove though, and I have an oil lamp,a chainsaw, and an axe, so it's all good.
