Spiced rum and ???

Postby Negromancer » Thu Apr 23, 2009 7:04 am

All hail!

I got my first bottle of Sailor Jerry today, though it was the Vanilla & Lime 80-proof variety, and a bit on the sweet side. I wonder what could go with this. Would Jamaican ginger ale do the trick? Should I drink it out of a coconut? Would mixing it with coke be utter blasphemy? Should I just shut up and drink it neat? ...From a coconut? How do I even open a coconut?

I don't have a spike, but... let's see, I have a dull bearded axe, a breadknife and a spear. Maybe some of them will do... I have fifteen square meters of living space, you see, so I don't have much of a toolkit.

I have a wooden tankard, I figured I could bash the spearhead into the nut with it, but now I remember that the last time I saw it I was chucking it around in my parents' backyard... I DID however fint a screwdriver. If I can just make a little hole in it I'll be fine. Then again. I'll have to find a coconut first. I should have thought of that while I was out shopping.

After a good while of searching, I finally found my coconut. I used a screwdriver to punch a hole in it, and then I made it bigger by using my breadknife as a machette. I can't figure out if I should blend toghether the coconut milk with the rum or if I should use it as an ingredient in my very own palmwine.

as you have a flavored variety already, i'd say pour yourself two shots. put a little coconut milk in one. try both. if you like it plain better, ferment the milk into palmwine (palmy, any tips?). if you like it with the milk better, you put the lime sailor in the coconut, you mix 'em both up. in any case, you should drink from the coconut. next best thing to a human skull, that. speaking of, skol!

Thank's I'll try that. I fear I may have been a bit eager about opening the coconut, since I'm trying to save this for tomorrow since I'm traveling to a festival.

I usually just put a little water and few dashes of bitters in the original Sailor. BEWARE THE BROWN SQUALL!

Ah, that was a nice weekend. I stashed away my coconut and the bottle while I was at a concert. I returned the following day to find somebody had stolen the coconut, but not the bottle of jerry! How strange is that?
