Dr. Pepper and Everclear is good.

Tonight, I will be drinking pure cane sugar Dr. Pepper and cheap vodka in honour of my visit to the Dr. Pepper Museum today in Waco, TX.

I'd suggest vodka -I've drank vodka and coke lots of times so v&dp shjould be okay too I guess. however I must admit that liquor&poker's recipe sounds quite tasty as well.

amaretto, maybe?

I mean, amaretto is the key ingredient in a Dr. Pepper (beer/coke/shot of amaretto), so perhaps amaretto and Dr. Pepper would prove a very good mixture. Unless amaretto isnt high enough proof for you.

In which case I'd suggest throwing out the Pepper and grabbing a dram of cask-strength scotch.

Fill a mug 2/3 of the way up with beer, drop a shot glass of Amaretto into it and chug it. You can add 1/2 oz. of 151 into the mix also.

Enjoy.

A cheap Irish Whiskey/Bourbon/Rye also mixes well with Dr. Pepper.

We used to do a variation on this one at my old local back home. It was the "Flaming Dr.Pepper'. Pretty much the same recipe but the shot is a double (1.5 shots amaretto, 1/2 shot 151) and the shot was lit before dropping. I was shocked how much this actually tasted like Dr.Pepper.
Barring that, rum and voddy are my fav mixers for the Doc.

There's a little small town bar near here that serves pitchers of Dr. Pepper and Kessler. It's cheap as hell and tastes suprisingly not too shitty.

This past weekend I drank it with Appleton Rum. Not too bad. After a few I decided to try something a little different and also added a shot of cinnamon schnapps. That hit the spot.
take care

Used to drink DP with either Meyers or Captain Morgans quite frequently. Have also recently tried it with cheap rum I inhereted from a party and it was still good.

Rum, regardless of color or quality seem to have a symbiotic relationship with DP.

I preferred it witht he Capt. Morgan Silver, as opposed to the original. Have yet to try it, with Sailor Jerry, but that might be a good way to spend Friday night.
