People have said I'm too respectable to drink a lot so I should atleast be incontrol.

yes, you should be in control I have a stupid big a cross tattoo on my hips, I'm giving up drinking. How much does that shit take to remove?

One of the great pleasures is losing control every once in a while.

And gimme a pitcher of microbrew and a pint of small batch bourbon. I'm feeling expensive.

If you're going to quit after one misadventure you don't deserve this lifestyle. You need a sense of adventure for this if you don't have one go home now. But to answer your question- Yeah, you should always be in control of your drinking or you might miss your mouth; in which case you're no longer drinking, you're spilling and that's a waste of booze.
