Looks tastey and at 120 Proof should "get the job done" as it were.

Oh it did, I had a few glasses on an empty stomach and was floating pretty good there for a while.

Time to solve the riddle of Smokehead, I'm thinking it's Ardbeg. You can smell this stuff from three feet away.

This is the only bottle where I'm actually going to save the tin because it's absolutely ridiculous.

I'm really interested in how this one tastes. I'm also curious about price point. I need to know if this is within my reach or not.

$49.99 in AZ at Total Wine. I've seen it as high as $53.00 though. It's a peat monster, no doubt, but not the peatiest Islay out there. I'm convinced that it's an 8 year old Ardbeg. Smokehead won't say what it is, and they never will, but the general consensus, and now mine as well, is that it's a young Ardbeg. The taste is right there, but the maturity isn't.

For the record, I'd buy it again.

Mr. Boozificator brought me a bottle of the Glenmorangie Nectar D'or on his last visit. Now I've not been much for scotch in the past, but this stuff is excellent. I think I've just not tried any of the good stuff to have an honest opinion. The only scotch I've had in probably the past 5 years was the big plastic bottles of Vat 69. Giant difference.

Yeah, he's mentioned it here before a few times, I bought a bottle solely on his recommendation. Haven't cracked it yet, but I am looking forward to it.

Good call. Word is it was Ardbeg for the first few years. Now it's said that it's Caol Ila, and will be from now on. Makes sense as Ardbeg no longer sell to 3rd parties, and Caol Ila have recently almost doubled their output to become one of the largest distilleries, and by far the largest on Islay. Makes little difference, as young peated Islays are so difficult to tell apart.

Loving the Scotch porn on this thread. I should get the camera out and get posting.

... oh, and there is a newer Nectar d'Or available. A 15yo Sauternes version, very nice too, i much prefer it to the 12.

Glenmorangie kick Still in full swing, Artein on board. I almost didn't pick it up, was there for something else, then I saw they had only 1 bottle left, and knowing how horrible resupply is here, it was a no brainer.

I now know why he recommends this. Wow, what a formidable drink taste-wise. It's beautiful, I'm actually gonna stop drinking it because there needs to be a fire, the presence of a striking woman and snow, this should come with instructions, this is a big one. Thoroughly enjoyable.

For a first taste of the good stuff, barring Islays which are completely different in taste, the bar that has been set is very tall.

Very tall.

Very glad you like it.
I have recently made this statement: I know no single that is not at least twice as expensive as this one which could rival it.
Of course taste is subjective, but to me it is the only to be that good and not ridiculously overpriced.

On the recomendations from this groups thread I have procured Ardberg 10 at a nice , $41 price range, on sale, and may go back for some of the Ardberg Corryvreckan as it to is on sale for $89. My this young brute is nice, more complex than Laugavulin 12 or the Laphroiag Cask Strenght that I've tried.
