I accidentally hailed a police car once when hammered. The very nice officers gave me a lift home, chortling all the way to my front door.

Funny thread. So I'll give my funny weirdo answer. Every time I've had the unfortunate bullshit of being arrested or questioned- be it for aggravated assault, DUI, trespassing, trashing an already shit motel room, or whatever...the cops have always been the easy part to deal with.

Hint: Don't act like a fucktard. If you like to take swings and pop shit at groups of dudes with guns, clubs, and endless back-up then you deserve a few knocks to the head.

This is AWESOME!! I got a ride home once from some cops, question free, but only cuz of how bad I was staggering. This story is the best ever.

I was riding home with two girls from a party in Long Beach/CA @37-38yrs ago. I was the drunkest one, passed out on the backseat, but no one in the car was exactly DUI-legal to drive. Sure enough, we get pulled over for failing to signal or some other minor faux pas. Before doing any undrunkenness testing, the cop got IDs from the gals and tapped on my backseat window to get mine. I was too drunk to roll the window down, but I knew he wanted my ID, and was leaning against the car door while trying to get to my wallet. The cop grew impatient and opened my door. I flopped halfway out of the car, facedown, and puked all over his pants and shoes. He took it quite well, helped me back into the car and told the driver to take me home and to drive carefully.

All things considered, we thought that cop was VERY nice to us.

Well once I was just going home after some drinks, I had obviously forgotten to put on my seatbelt and decided to take a roundabout without actually going all the way around it (of you know what I mean) and the next thing I know am pulled over, so the cop says well boy, you weren't wearing a seatbelt and you took a wrong turn, any excuses.....when I opened my mouth to utter something of course, the response was....you're drunk, aren't you ?

Not gonna go into any more details about that one except I got off without going to jail or a lecture but learnt a lesson, so that was pretty good on that cop.

Second instance is when I was still in school, riding my two wheeler home after extra tutition stuff, got pulled over for not wearing a helmet, the cop asked what I was up to, I just replied truthfully that I was going home from studying and had left my helmet at home cuz I was getting late for classes, he let me go just saying, oh well, you can go lad, after all you're a student eh, future of our nation !

and once again, this incident happened when I had just gotten me license and was driving around, blazing music, following girls, shit like that, basically just being a nuisance on the road and had forgot to turn me headlights on as well, got pulled over, the cop told me to be sensible in futur and just let me go cuz according to him my "yes sir, no sir, sorry sir, I do realise that sir" routine was a damn sight more respectful than the cocky shit most teenagers decided to pull and ended up feeling sorry for later.

You're a damn site smarter than you let on. Good on you lad. I too find being polite to the jack booted thugs (no offensive to the several drinking friends I have who are cops or ex cops) always ends better than my wife's common retort of "you fucking asshole".

Got off with just a warning and a lecture last night.

"Now as I understand, there has been alcohol involved in this. Yeah, alchol makes us go down that path right ?"

"Yes sir"

"And yet copious amounts of it seem to have been consumed here"

I've interacted with several officers who've been kind enough to give me a ride in the back of their vehicle, a place to stay, a meal in the morning, and a phone call. They also showed me how to fingerpaint, though the palette of colors was highly restricted.

I was pulled over on my way home from the bar. I had downed a few pitchers over the course of the hockey game, but nothing obnoxious. We were pulled over because my friends were hanging their heads out the window and hollering at the peasants roaming the streets. The cop walks up to my window as i roll it down, and speaks in a very serious and surprising tone;

"You have a warrant out for your arrest, please step out of the car."

"The fuck?"

"Step out of the car"

I get out, and walk backwards with my hands up to the back of the car where they search and cuff me before tossing me in the back of the car. I'm still oblivious as to whats happening.

We sit in the car and I finally figure out why I have a warrant. A drunk in public fine that I did not pay, which as they explained was no big deal at all. So we are chit chatting about the hockey game (Canada vs. Russia 2010 olympics) and I realize they are pretty easy going. One of the officers turns to me and says "Your friends are pretty big jack asses, eh? Thats why we pulled you over."

Now, being midly buzzed, I mustered up the cojones to say "Yeah, you should fuck with them!"

At that moment another paddy wagon arrived to ID my friends and whatnot. The two cops in my car said they would be right back, and left to go talk to the other cops that just arrived. When they came back we finished filling out my promise to appear paperwork (about 15 minutes) and I was sent on my way.

I went back to my car, sat in the drivers seat amongst the most stunned faces I have ever seen on a group of faces.

"Lets roll" I exclaimed

"What happened? What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Nah nothing we're good to go, lets hit the liquor store." I said, forgetting that I had asked the cops to fuck with them.

"Man, what the fuck did you get yourself into? You're a suspect in a murder case!?"

I would have fucked with them more if I had been able to keep it together. Those poor sons of bitches spent 15 minutes in my car freaking out thinking I was a murderer. I could barely drive I was laughing so hard.

Nicely done coppers, nicely done.
All the things I have to do today will still be there for me to do tomorrow. This bottle of rum however, will not. It would be poor time management to not spend my day getting drunk.
