MDM: How many movies have you appeared in?
Hard to count with a drink in one hand, but I’m told over 200 films.
Is there ever drinking on the set?
There’s always drinking on the set. It’s standard practice in the film business. It’s tough to say which film had the MOST drinking but the top two might be Abducted II: The Reunion (special kudos to Jan Michael Vincent) and Colour from the Dark (it was shot in Italy after all. Need to give a shout out to my fellow Irish actors Gerry Shanahan and Emmett Scanlan for their undying support).
Who are the best actors or directors to drink with?
In my experience Jan Michael Vincent is the huge standout. When we were rehearsing at 9 AM he reeked of booze. That to me says dedication. He’s a man who would not judge if you raised your glass before pancakes. Gotta love that.
Do you remember your first drink?
Yes. I was 10. My friend gave me 110 proof vodka and a splash of tomato juice. I ended up face down in a puddle in her driveway. Woke up in the hospital. Realized right then that portions have to be measured out better. It was a wake-up call to proper mixing.
What’s the usual?
A Grave Digger – preferably served in a Martini glass. Ingredients: One shot of Bacardi 151 and one shot of Jim Beam Whiskey. In any order you want.
You’ve got twenty bucks to spend on alcohol:
In a bar: A pitcher of Adios Mother Fucker. Very elegant looking but will knock you on your ass and give you a good blackout.

Favorite Bar and why:
Manitoba’s Bar, on Ave. B in NYC, owned and run by Richard “Handsome Dick” Manitoba from the now defunct punk band The Dictators. Good prices, good atmosphere and they don’t throw you out when you’re hammered. They give you coffee till you are sober enough to start drinking again.
Do you have a drinking philosophy?
So what if it’s unhealthy for you, the five years drinking will shave off your life are the last five years anyway. Would I rather be in dentures and Depends or a bar right now?
Do you find that drinking helps you get into a character?
Drinking has helped the finest actors. Might I mention Richard Burton? Having a few before stepping on the set loosens you up to take chances you never would dare to in a sober situation. Isn’t that what the best actors do? Take chances? Always.
Surefire hangover cure:
Voodoo! Works every time! How? Haitian voodoo people recommend sticking 13 black pins in the cork of the offending bottle. Easy.
What are your upcoming movies/projects?
Upcoming movies are Wrath of the Crows, Nightmare Box and Sick Boy. Upcoming projects including finishing the bottle in front of me. Doesn’t do any good just sitting there.
